Dr. Christopher Connolly
Dr. Christopher Connolly is a resident in Medical Genetics and Pediatrics at the University of Michigan, where he served on the hospital’s Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and pursues interests in rare diseases and their treatments. He also conducts research on Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) accounts, which help people with disabilities save and invest without jeopardizing eligibility for public benefits programs. Following residency, he plans to practice as a physician while continuing to engage in translational and industry-focused work.
At age 15, Chris sustained a spinal cord injury, leaving him an incomplete quadriplegic. He went on to attend Stanford University, where he was a finalist for the Rhodes and Marshall Scholarships, led the campus disability advocacy group, and was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. After earning his undergraduate and master’s degrees in biology, with distinction, Chris began medical and business school at the University of Michigan.
During graduate school, Chris was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha and Beta Gamma Sigma honor societies, founded a genomic medicine interest group, was recognized as a Dean’s Scholar, gained policy experience as an intern in Senator Tammy Duckworth’s office, and worked with legislators to improve housing opportunities for people with disabilities. He also held roles in clinical and business development in the biotech industry. Chris was the inspiration for API’s condo parking bill, modeled on legislation passed by the Illinois General Assembly.
